Senior Communications Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

Imagine being the strategic force behind how AWS Professional Services (ProServe) and Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) connect with the world. As a Sr Executive Communications Manager, you'll shape the external narrative that positions our organization as the leader in enterprise AI transformation and innovation — and orchestrate how that story comes to life.
You'll work at the intersection of strategic communications, market positioning, and cross-functional coordination, identify the stories worth telling, package them into compelling narratives, and work with partner teams to amplify ProServe and FDE's leadership in AI-enhanced delivery, specialized solutions, and deep technical expertise.
Key job responsibilities
Drive Strategic Engagement Programs
- Develop communications strategies that position ProServe and FDE as leaders in enterprise AI transformation and forward-deployed engineering,
- Define measurement requirements for communications initiatives
- Identify and capture delivery outcomes, customer transformation stories, and technical proof points, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure coherent positioning
- Build relationships with customer and internal stakeholders, from C-level executives to subject matter experts
Continuously Improve & Innovate
- Capture feedback from customer and partner interactions to develop continuous improvement cycles
- Identify new approaches for amplifying delivery outcomes and technical differentiation, including leveraging agentic and generative AI tools
- Respond to an agile, constantly evolving global environment with rapid-turnaround content for time-sensitive opportunities
Communicate & Influence
- Prepare regular progress reports for internal stakeholders
- Drive consensus and garner support through exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Balance tradeoffs while effectively communicating stakeholder recommendations

- 6+ years of professional work (non-internship) experience
- 7+ years of advising and influencing executive leadership experience
- Experience with Social Media and Channel Management Strategy
- Experience with brand strategy and reputation management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ----------------------------
- Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners
- Experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment, high-tech products/services

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. About Forward Deployed Engineering
Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.
Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.
Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
