Compensation: $180,000 – $250,000 base + 0.5% – 2% equity

About ClarityCare AI
ClarityCare AI is building AI infrastructure for healthcare utilization management and prior authorization workflows. Their AI agents process clinical documents, reason over medical criteria, and automate authorization decisions in real time — reducing processing timelines from days to minutes.
The company launched commercially in 2025 and rapidly scaled to seven-figure ARR within months. The founding team includes engineers and researchers from MIT, Apple, Google, and OpenAI-backed startups.
About the Role
ClarityCare AI is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to own customer deployments and technical relationships end-to-end. Unlike traditional FDE organizations, all engineers are both customer-facing and deeply technical — owning frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI systems simultaneously. The role blends full-stack engineering, deployment ownership, AI infrastructure, customer communication, and production debugging in live healthcare environments.
What You'll Own
- Own customer relationships from pre-sale through deployment and ongoing support
- Define and document project scope directly with customers
- Deploy AI agents into customer environments and iterate on production feedback
- Own portions of backend, frontend, or AI infrastructure systems
- Debug and resolve live customer production issues
- Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture and customer-driven product direction
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts
Requirements
- 1–5 years of full-stack engineering experience
- Strong frontend, backend, and AI systems engineering ability
- Comfortable speaking directly with customers and stakeholders
- Able to define scope of work in ambiguous customer conversations
- Self-sufficient with strong ownership mentality
- Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate onsite
Nice to Have
- Prior Forward Deployed Engineer or Solutions Engineer experience
- Healthcare or healthtech background
- AI agent or LLM product experience
- Startup or founding engineer background
- React and TypeScript frontend expertise

About Forward Deployed Engineering
Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.
Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.
Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
