Forward Deployed Strategist (NYC)

$110K - $170K New York, NY, US Mid Posted October 05, 2026

Role Description

Grab your cape, become a SuperHyro!

Hyro, the leader in Responsible AI Agents for Healthcare, enables health systems to safely automate workflows and conversations across their most valuable platforms, services, and channels - including call centers, websites, SMS, mobile apps, and more. Hyro's clients, which include Intermountain Health, Baptist Health, and Hackensack Meridian Health, benefit from AI agents that are fully HIPAA-compliant, fast to deploy, easy to maintain, and simple to scale - generating better conversations, successful patient outcomes, and revenue-driving insights.

What Are We Looking For?

Most AI deployments stall after go-live. Your job is to make sure ours don't. Health systems are under pressure to do more with less, and Hyro's responsible AI Agents are already handling millions of patient conversations. But launching an AI Agent is only the beginning. The real value comes from what happens next: expanding into new workflows, earning trust across departments, and proving measurable impact to leadership.

That's where you come in. As one of Hyro's first Forward Deployed Strategists, you'll embed with our most strategic health-system customers and own their adoption journey from the core deployment to a full, measurable AI program. You'll be part strategist, part technologist, and part change agent, and you'll help write the playbook for a function that doesn't exist anywhere else at Hyro yet.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing role such as product management, solutions engineering or pre-sales, or technical consulting, ideally serving US healthcare or health-system customers.
  • A solid grasp of enterprise AI systems, APIs, cloud technologies, or deployment architectures. You don't need to write production code, but you can hold your own with engineers and explain it to executives.
  • A product mindset: you can articulate why a specific capability matters to a specific user in a specific workflow.
  • A track record of building trust fast and moving stakeholders from "interesting" to "let's do it."
  • Willingness to travel to client sites regularly (approximately 25%).

Advantages:

  • Experience at a healthtech company or with health-system customers
  • Hands-on experience with ML, AI, or NLU products

This is a hybrid role, with at least three days per week in our NYC office. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The salary range for this NY-based position is $110k – $170k annually, exempt, based on experience, qualifications, and skills. Compensation for candidates outside New York may vary with local cost of labor.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner strategically. Be the dedicated, embedded expert for a portfolio of strategic health-system accounts and the person their leadership calls first.
  • Drive adoption. Own each client's roadmap from the core package into advanced capabilities, with demos and working sessions that rally everyone from frontline staff to the C-suite.
  • Translate between worlds. Turn clinical and operational needs into deployment plans, and bring the customer's voice to Engineering, Product, and Sales.
  • Get ahead of risk. Spot stalling adoption or at-risk signals early and act before they become problems.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Unlimited PTO, plus paid sick leave
  • Company-wide long weekends every quarter
  • Hybrid, dog-friendly NYC office
  • Work-from-anywhere up to 2 weeks a year
  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • MealPal subscription for monthly lunches
  • Home office equipment coverage

Equal Opportunities:

Hyro is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We hire talented people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, ancestry, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military or veteran status, cultural background, religious beliefs, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

About Forward Deployed Engineering

Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.

Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.

Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
