Role Description

About Voicify

Voicify is one of the pioneers of Agentic AI, building intelligent voice agents that automate complex customer interactions for some of the largest restaurant chains and healthcare organizations in the United States. Our AI powers millions of real-world conversations, helping businesses deliver better customer experiences every day.

As an engineer at Voicify, you'll work on cutting-edge AI technologies—including large language models (LLMs), cloud-native applications, and scalable distributed systems—while building and deploying production software that has an immediate impact.

About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you are Voicify’s customer-embedded technical partner. You drive customer success by rapidly scoping, building and deploying assistants for major restaurant franchises and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Technical Onboarding: Manage POS, PMS integrations, menu setups, and pre-launch QA in tandem with the Onboarding team.
  • Optimize Agent Performance: Continuously tune behavior, prompts, and rules using call data and observability traces to drive measurable post-launch improvements.
  • Own the Voice Experience: Guarantee accuracy, naturalness, brand voice, and seamless edge-case handling.
  • Feed Core Engineering: Funnel bug clusters, repeat pain points, and custom feature patterns back to Product to benefit the entire user base.
  • Documentation Duties: Maintain clear, accessible records of all custom builds, tunings, and escalations.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years software engineering preferred (full-stack, backend, ML/AI), ideally in a customer-facing or solutions role.
  • Hands-on LLM/AI expertise: Direct experience with prompt engineering, agent behavior, state machines, and running evaluations.
  • Production debugging: Highly comfortable navigating logs, webhooks, and APIs.
  • Proven track record: History of shipping end-to-end solutions under real-world customer deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication: Capable of leading client calls and handling client communication.
  • Prioritization skills: A bias for action and highly organized enough to juggle multiple live deployments seamlessly.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of microservice architectures
  • Experience working with AI, machine learning, or LLM-based applications
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with real-time communications, telephony, or conversational AI is a plus
  • Experience with one or more of the following verticals: restaurant, healthcare, hospitality.
  • Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Customer Engineer, or Technical Account Manager at a SaaS, AI, or enterprise software company.
  • Experience working directly with customers to deploy, configure, and optimize software solutions in production environments.
  • Familiarity with conversational AI, voice AI, contact center technologies, telephony platforms, or large language models (LLMs).
  • Experience building integrations using APIs, webhooks, and third-party platforms.
  • Experience troubleshooting production systems using logs, monitoring tools, and observability platforms.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with healthcare, hospitality, restaurant technology, or other multi-location enterprise businesses.
  • Experience writing scripts, automation tools, or lightweight applications to solve customer-specific challenges.

What You'll Work With

Depending on the project, you'll have opportunities to work with technologies including:

  • C#
  • .NET
  • Python
  • Azure
  • Kubernetes
  • Docker
  • SQL Server
  • Redis
  • REST APIs
  • GitHub
  • OpenAI and other Large Language Models
  • Speech recognition and conversational AI technologies

What Success Looks Like

You take ownership of your customers' success and use your technical skills to solve their toughest challenges. Rather than waiting for issues to be reported, you proactively analyze AI conversations, troubleshoot technical problems, and build solutions that improve performance and customer outcomes.

You're comfortable diving into logs, APIs, integrations, and conversation data to identify root causes and resolve issues quickly. You communicate clearly, document what you build, and collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to deliver scalable solutions.

At Voicify, speed matters. Our customers depend on us to power mission-critical AI for some of the largest restaurant and healthcare organizations in the country. You'll have the autonomy to solve meaningful problems, deliver solutions quickly, and directly shape the success of our customers and the future of Agentic AI.

About Forward Deployed Engineering

Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.

Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.

Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
