Role Description
AI coding tools now write code faster than humans can review it. My client builds the quality layer for the agentic era: specialized review agents that check every pull request with full codebase context, enforce company standards, and catch changes that break other repositories before they merge.
They are a well funded Series B company with more than $100M raised. Customers include NVIDIA , Walmart , Red Hat , Intuit , Ford and Intel , and over a million developers use the product.
They’re now building their founding US Forward Deployed Engineering function , with the team based in New York & Boston.
What you’ll do
- Embed with strategic enterprise customers who run the platform on prem, in their own VPCs, air gapped, or in regulated environments
- Own deployments from prototype through to production
- Debug deep inside the platform itself: model routing, LLM gateways, and scaling review across very large pull requests
- Build customer specific MCP servers, agent skills and integrations, then turn the reusable ones into core product
- Work directly with customer CTOs and the go to market team
- Write the playbooks that define how the function runs
What you’ll bring
- Production LLM experience in the last two years, covering agents, evals, and prompt and context engineering
- You still write production code in Python or TypeScript
- 5+ years in a technical customer facing role, for example FDE, solutions engineer who codes, SWE with consulting exposure, or a founder who deployed hands on
Bonus points
- Built or consumed MCP servers or agent frameworks
- Deployments in customer controlled environments
- Developer tooling, code analysis or AppSec background
- Experience debugging live distributed systems under pressure
Why join
- A founding role: you’ll shape how enterprise deployment works from day one
- A product at the centre of how AI is changing software engineering
- Close collaboration with a strong global engineering team
Details
- Location: New York or Boston, hybrid (2 days a week in office) or remote across the East Coast
- Salary: $200K to $280K base plus equity

About Forward Deployed Engineering
Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.
Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.
Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
