Deployment Strategist
FDE Pulse Glossary
Also: Forward Deployed Strategist
A Deployment Strategist works inside a customer like an FDE, but the work is analytical and relational rather than code-first. They map the customer's workflows, decide which use cases matter most, and make sure what gets built actually gets used.
At Palantir this role is the Echo, paired with the Delta, who is the Forward Deployed Engineer. The strategist supplies the judgment about what to build and the engineer supplies the build.
If you are strong on customer empathy and business problem-solving but do not want to write production code full time, Deployment Strategist is the forward deployed path that fits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Deployment Strategist the same as a Forward Deployed Engineer?
No. They work side by side, but the Forward Deployed Engineer writes the production code, while the Deployment Strategist handles use-case discovery, adoption, and the customer relationship. At Palantir these are the Delta and the Echo.
