Role Description

JDA TSG has immediate opportunities for a Microsoft Purview Data Protection, Microsoft Entra ID, and "Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365" Expert to join our team as Customer Engineers (CE). A CE’s time is dedicated to working with some of the largest and most sophisticated organizations in the world, typically Fortune 1000 enterprises. In this role, you will be responsible for customer satisfaction, deployment, adoption, optimization, and support of Microsoft Purview Data Protection, Microsoft Entra ID, and "Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365". Customer Engineers serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, helping organizations strengthen their data security posture, identity governance, compliance frameworks, and threat protection capabilities across complex hybrid and cloud environments. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with consultative communication skills and a passion for solving complex security and compliance challenges at scale.

  • Partner with customers to assess, architect, and implement Purview, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Defender solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) across Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Defender technologies.
  • Lead technical workshops, discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and deployment planning engagements.
  • Provide guidance on Zero Trust security architecture and modern data protection strategies encompassing Purview, EntraID and M365 Defender.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to identity, compliance, data governance, and endpoint/email protection.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, delivery, and customer success teams to drive successful engagements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture standards, operational runbooks, and best practices.
  • Stay current with evolving Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity technologies and roadmap updates.

* 10 - 15+ years of experience supporting enterprise Microsoft cloud security and compliance solutions. * 7+ years of deep expertise in: + Microsoft Purview Data Protection & Compliance + Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) + Microsoft Defender for Microsoft 365 * Strong understanding of: + Zero Trust Architecture + Identity & Access Management (IAM) + Cloud Security & Governance + Data Security & Compliance Frameworks + Microsoft 365 Security Ecosystem * Experience working directly with enterprise customers in consulting, engineering, or customer-facing technical roles. * Strong troubleshooting, communication, and presentation skills.

The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.

Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.

Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
